"The Movie"

These are all movies that are single words following "The". I have omitted the "A-Team" while I have included "The Set-up" since A-Team is actually two words, and Set-up is generally written as a compound: Setup. Also, I have omitted "The Union: The Business Behind Getting High" due to the project title having the clarifier following it. Staying true to form, I wouldn't just use "The Union" as that'd be unfair to the producers, writers, etc. There are, of course, a great many more movies with more than one word following "The" (such as "The Shawshank Redemption," or "The Great Dictator," etc) however, as I'd set out on the below project a few days ago I thought I'd post it.

The 4400
The American
The Apartment
The Birds
The Circus
The Concert
The Conformist
The Conqueror
The Cove
The Cremator
The Crow
The Departed
The Devils
The Dilemma
The Eagle
The Emigrants
The Exorcist
The Fighter
The General
The Godfather
The Graduate
The Gunfighter
The Haunting
The Heiress
The Hillz
The Holiday

The Hurricane
The Hustler
The Illusionist
The Incredibles
The Infidel
The Innocents
The Kid
The Killers
The Killing
The Leopard
The Letter
The Matrix
The Mechanic
The Message
The Mirror
The Mummy
The Natural
The Party
The Patsy
The Pianist
The Prestige
The Rite
The Rocket
The Roomate
The Sandlot
The Searchers
The Secret

The Smurfs
The Snowman
The Sting
The Tempest
The Terminator
The Thing
The Tourist
The Town
The Unknown
The Untouchables
The Visitor
The Westerner
The Wind

I mean really... is it THAT hard to think of a good title? (My answer: No. It's not. But even I fall prey to the "The Noun" titles. Sigh. This list is by no means exhaustive. This was collected over just a short time.

Switchabout Life - Travelling

December 19th - 2010

Day 3 - 10:50am

So, last night, I discovered a great little restaurant. The "Inn Cogneato," it's a bistro/kabob place. $10 saw me with a grilled chicken sandwich and a side of spiced fried potatoes. A giant plate of food that left me stuffed at the gills after 1/2 of the sandwhich - chicken bits grilled up in something incredibly tasty, lettuce, tomatoes, on foccacia bread... best grilled chicken sandwich I've had in a very long time. The potatoes were cooked to near perfection too.

I liked it so much, I'm plugging them here:

Inn Cogneato (Bistro & Kabob)
1.604.988.0201
1633 Capilano Road
North Vancouver, BC
V7P 3B3, Canada

Yes, it was that good.

Went from there to dealing a poker tournament for the Squamish Nation's local Christmas Party. I had a GREAT time, with amazing players at my table. Friendly, the lot of them. The whole community is exactly that, a community. Even the 'help' like us were allowed to eat with them. Too bad I was already stuffed, I was told the food there was really good. The other four dealers certainly went wide eyed! But by the time I'd digested my dinner, the food was gone =/

Hopefully next time I can have the honour and the pleasure of dealing cards for them again.

Came home, ate the other half of my sandwich, and played video games. Oh, and had a bottle of apple juice, some beef jerky, and one of those frozen Del Monte fruit bars... thanks li'l brother.

Why do I keep talking about food?

Remember... "Switchabout Life" is about what I'm eating, what I'm changing and doing, kinda a diary of food/fitness, with some blogging besides. Anyway, food is always good to talk about, even when you're doing what I'm doing right now, which is eating a bowl of Raisin Bran w/ water.

But... my brother bought me cola... sigh... trying to resist, but. Alas. Clean shaven, partially rested, shoulder is better, packed and ready to go. Hoorah.

So, if I don't get around to doing this in the next few days, I'll hopefully step right back into the habit when I return. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year... just in case ^_~!

Switchabout Life - The Second Third Day

December 18th - 2010

Day 2 - 5:05pm

So, last night was a bust. Broke tables (basically move from one game table to the next, giving time for each dealer of four a break for 15 minutes, in a rotation) for blackjack. Didn't feel like dealing poker, and I was readily accomodated by a couple dealers who were eager to sit down at a game and run the tournament.

Had juice... I think I actually typed that in the previous post, but I must have pulled a muscle in my shoulder somethin' fierce. See, it was so painful that it made me nauseous. Couldn't sleep either. Ugh. Well, mananged to get thru till 8:30am, when I finally gave up trying to sleep.

A hot heat-bag, a scalding hot shower, and some stretching later, it finally subsided to a dull ache. Coupled with a much needed nap a couple hours back, I feel better. Not great, but better.

Will get paid tonite for both gigs. Not a bad deal. $130 for 8 hours of work. I wish there were enough of these jobs to live off of. We'll see though. Maybe in the new year there'll be more.

Bowl of Raisin Bran and water again. And a half dozen hard boiled eggs. Yes. That means six.

No coffee as of yet, but I think I'm gunna brew up a pot right now. Otherwise I'll have a migraine mid-tournament... not much fun when there's lotsa chatter, clicking of chips, and light.

Did cave tho last night. My brother gave me three Dead Frog beers. Good stuff. And a few chocolates. Hey... these are the fancy chocolates. Pot of Gold. Yup. Not able to turn those down just yet!

However, no pop! Phew. Day 2. Three?// *crunch* Found that piece of eggshell that I dropped and couldn't find... under the keys, lols! Fixed. Wet Q-Tips work wonders!

Gunna be a loooooooong day tomorrow. Ugh. Anyway. Off to work.

Oh yah, and I did 50 'drop-pushes' last night, and 75 the night before, fergot about that. Basically I stand 3 feet back from the counter, then keeping my body straight and my arms at my sides (hands forward, so my elbows are at my sides when I push back) I drop forward to the counter, catching myself with my hands, then push myself back into a standing position. Hell of a workout for the triceps. Moreso with a hurt shoulder.

Ah well. One thing at a time right?

Right. To "work" with me.

Switchabout Life - The Day Continues

December 17th - 2010

Day 1 - 6:40pm

Not much new. Slept until 3pm. Got up. Did laundry for a couple hours. Showered. Had a mug of cold coffee (yum). And a bowl of Rasin Bran w/ water. Yup. Water. Don't have any soy milk or milk... to be honest though, I kinda like the taste w/ water. It feels a lot cleaner (I did that for months when I had less money than now).

Just heading out to work @ Capilano Suspension Bridge... dealing poker (Texas Holdem) for a party. Tomorrow night it's with the Squamish Nation for a tournament.

No exercise as of yet today. Hell, I've only been awake for just under 4 hours. Started the food thing though. Resisted chocolate and going to the store for pop etc. Gotta make it a few days.

Sunday I'm headed to Victoria. Might not be able to get online every day to update, but I'll try here and there.

I wonder, will anyone other than myself follow my blogs? Hm. Guess we'll see.

Probably post more later.

Switchabout Life - A Process of Change

Decided. This moment. To stop 'thinking' of change, and to start 'making' change. This will include stretching, eating better, even if less until I get sorted, less CRAP. More active parkour/freerunning training (self disciplined), going outside, regular sleep, exercise, and once money permits, yoga and capoeira. Ah and of course, increased study habits (which really aren't that bad, but could be lots better). So... gunna track it here I guess.

December 17th - 2010

Day 1 - 3:45am

Not off to a good start. Insomnia, likely caused by a litre of cola, some chocolate, 2 beers, a packaged beef sandwich on 60% bread, 2 king-sized reeses peanut butter cups (made me ill btw), and nearly 1 litre of eggnog, a couple scoops of a tasty rice/beef/veggie mix which I shouldn't have had w/o asking... and about a litre or two of water...

This of course started yesterday, and went into the morning. So. Yah.

I just now decided to do this. Let's see how long I keep it up for.

Tired, but not sleepy. Eyes sting. Chest heavy. Feel 'thick'. Probably need water. Just a touch too warm, even though the temperature isn't high and the sliding door to the balcony is open, screen closed.

Million Miles a Minute

Haven't posted in... almost 2 years.
Lots has happened, including a screwball relationship which ended up being emotionally abusive (towards me) and a serious siphoning of my personal funds, even though I was on student loans and she was working. Go figure. Oh well, over now. Thankfully (never thought I'd ever say that, but there it is).
Life is turning around though. Have my Associate of Arts in Creative Writing now. Taking 1 year of classes inbetween and waiting for my university / college to start offering 3rd / 4th year classes. If they say they're available by spring, I'll stay with them. If not, I'll apply at UBC, SFU, Kwantlen, and UVic, plus a few other places in Canada (like Kent, in Ontario) since they offer degrees in Creative Writing as well as Masters and PHDs too.
Started training (a little more each day until I'm strong enough to do 2 hours+ daily) in Parkour, and will start in formal Capoeira classes again at my old academy come Sept 7th when my student loans come in.
Not working, but full time student (STILL). Why the hell must people bitch and bemoan a student willing to devote 100% of their life to school? What, it's better to have LOWER grades and a part time or full time job? Or no life whatsoever so long as you're working like a 'real' person? Y'know what? Fuck off. I've got over 3.0GPA out of 4.0... over 94 credits. Meaning that I've maintained over 3 years of classes not less than a B average. So... yeah. Stuff it.
I will be training hard in the fall, so much so that I'll really have no life at all. I *am* actually looking for a part time job, just a couple days a week. I've got weddings in two parts of the world to go to, and visitations to several places the world around.
Anyways. Yah. I might start to post here more. Or I might just stick to WFPF (World Freerunning and Parkour Foundation) blogging, or both. I'm trying to get into the habit of blogging. If I can, then I can do it for a job. Love technology. Hmmm... I wonder...

Anyways. Checkyaz around. I'll try to remember this place exists! LOLS! Yay G-Mail!
